Every few months someone circulates a spreadsheet comparing Azure and AWS service by service. It is always a tie, because at this point it is a tie.

The decision turns on four things the spreadsheet does not capture.

Your existing licensing position

If you are already substantially invested in Microsoft licensing, Azure Hybrid Benefit changes the arithmetic enough to decide the question on its own. If you are not, that advantage evaporates.

What your team already knows

A platform your engineers can operate confidently on day one beats a marginally better platform they will learn over eighteen months. Migration is already a large change; do not stack a skills transition on top of it unless the payoff is specific.

Data residency

For organisations operating across India and the GCC, region availability and data residency commitments frequently narrow the field before anything else is considered. Check this first, not last — it can invalidate months of planning.

Your exit position

Ask what leaving would cost. Managed services are where the value is and also where the lock-in is. That trade is often worth making — but make it deliberately, and write down what you decided and why.
